I'm a sophomore and I'm between majors. I'm not sure if I want to continue down the path of Computer Science (which I know has a really good market), or if I want to major in Technical Writing.

I recently stumbled upon Technical Writing on my college's Major Map page (ASU), and the median salary is comparable to Computer Science and it may be a tad more interesting to me.

I guess a technical writer translates technical information into documentation (manuals, graphs, user-friendly concepts) and what not.

I live in Phoenix, which is one of the major US cities but am worried that this major is a little.. obscure and I will have trouble finding a job?

On Indeed.com I do see companies like Intel looking for technical writers in my area, so that's reassuring. But again, it's not even close to how many companies are looking for CS majors. Just not sure if that's what I want to do with my life.

So any and all information on Technical Writing as a career/outlook (I have been to BLS, 17% Projected Growth 2010-20) would be extremely helpful!
