Anyone have any idea how one could go about getting a job as a dean of admissions?

After spending so much time at CC, I realized how much I love the admissions process. I've been thinking about the possibility of a career in admissions for a while.

I'm guessing getting a PhD and being an professor for a university first before seeking out the position?

Colleges often like to have heads of admissions be alumni if possible, so your best best is at your own college. Start by getting internships in the admissions office while you are in college and work your way up from there as you education continues.

One more thing to to consider: admissions in general is often not a particularly high-paid profession. So you should be prepared for a lot of lean years as you work your way up.

What does the Dean of admissions do anyway? I’ve always had this image of the them sitting at their desks with all 10 fingers touching eachother( not the palms, mind you. Know what I mean??? haha) and looking over waitlisted applicants, trying to decide who gets the pass and who gets the chop… bbbbbbbbbahhahahahahha.
