Career prospects for IR and econs grads

I'm really worried about job prospects. I got accepted to NYU and i feel that even though they don't have as good an IR program as Tufts, they're more well known to recruiters and interviewers. I don't want to spend a fortune on Tufts and come out scrambling to find a decent paying job. Can anyone please tell me what IR majors go on to do after graduating?ie typical job offers, is it easy to get interviews, do most companies recognise Tufts, what about internships? Please give me any information you have and be as objective as possible. This a very difficult decision for me and i just want to know what i'm heading into an dreally appreciate objective information. I'm sure there are many other students out there worrying about the same thing. Any information would be great. Thanks :)

I've never heard that they're more well known than Tufts to recruiters and interviewers, and any info regarding that would be hearsay.

Tufts, as one of the most prestigious schools in the US, will be very well known to companies and grad schools. They have excellent visibility in both arenas.

IR Majors, due to the broad nature of the subject, can go into a variety of career paths, including:

Foreign Service/Diplomacy

Business

Law

International Medicine

Journalism

Consulting

Regional/Directional Policy

Literature

Film and Communications

Teaching
(And I don't mean these at the lowest-level work)
Both NYU & Tufts are world-renowned, so their should be little concern about whether one school versus the other will offer the better career start. It's just that ma and pa's corner store down the street might not (and probably have not) heard of them. But for those in the know (or who need to know), they definately know that Tufts & NYU are schools for the top students.
