Do any alumni, parents, or currents students have information on the Bryn Mawr career services? I don’t know why I get the feeling that there isn’t much emphasis placed on internships and study abroad opportunities. I know many students go to grad school but does going to Bryn Mawr help with finding a job afterwards?
I am a parent replying, I do not know much about career services but D has worked closely with her professors who provided info on internship and fellowship opportunities.
You have to do your own due diligence though especially for competitive internships. Once she applied, she would utilize Bryn Mawr’s alumni network to find out if someone worked there. If so, she would contact them, ask pertinent questions about the company and work environment and let them know she applied. This extra step would often at least get the initial interview among hundreds of applicants. My D did have an internship as a sophomore, then invited to return the summer of junior year. Following her 2nd internship she was offered a competitive position at the company after she graduates in May. The alumni network is a huge resource, that is why you go to Bryn Mawr. Women support each other not just in college but throughout your career.
Parent here: you can message me for specifics, but we’ve been VERY happy with the opportunities that have been available to our daughter at BMC. That said, the students still need to take charge and make it happen (rather than waiting for something to fall into their laps). The alums are amazing and employers know the work ethic that the BMC students bring to the office with them.
