Careers and Majors

Do any of you guys have any idea what you're going to major in or what you hope your profession will be? As of right now, I'm not sure. Are any of you guys more decisive? If so, what do you hope to be?

My major is currently Arts & Humanities, with a double major in anthropology. I am also going to either take a minor in Spanish or a documentary studies concentration.

I want to go on to do graduate work in linguistic anthropology.

Eventually, I either want to do human rights law, work overseas in some kind of government agency, become a professor, or being a refugee teacher. Something along those lines…

I have no idea what I’m going to do for a job.

A double major in either Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Aerospace (depending on the school) and Physics; pursuing an MS in Aerospace and a BS in Physics. If I get bored, I’ll go for a Ph.D in Aero and an MS in Physics. If life still proves dull, a Ph.D in both Aero and Physics, and an MBA for good measure.

All in preparation for my dream career of undersea botany.

Double major in biology and neuroscience

med school

doctor thing

What I’ve been thinking:

-Double Major in Chemistry and Philosophy
-Start Law School at 20 (And if I can get into a school with funding, a JD/PhD program)
-Enter the Air Force at 23 as a Captain
-LLM/J.S.D at some point

Wow. I envy you guys and your plans. You’ve got your next couple years scheduled down to a tee, while I’m milling around unsure of what I’m getting into next quarter, much less next year. XD

lol I just decided I wanted to seriously consider the Air Force 2 days ago.

^Lol, did you really? That’s awesome that you found something you might want to do though:)

@ aigiqinf: Somehow, I missed the Air Force thing in your first post, but that is really really awesome. I can’t quite express how awesome it is in mere words, but man. If you do decide to go the Air Force route, you’ve got my highest respects. And even if you don’t, that’s awesome you even considered it.

Are you applying to USAFA, then?

I’m thinking about one of the following combinations (either double major or minor in one):

industrial/systems engineering + mathematics
engineering physics + statistics or mathematics
mathematics + statistics

Possible careers include systems engineer, operations research analyst, statistician, cryptographer, actuary, nuclear engineer…

photography. maybe a double major in photography and sculpture. or maybe some illustration. i want to be a photo journalist. i want to create things. maybe ill start a bakery/record shop. maybe ill marry rich.

not really.

My understanding is the USAFA doesn’t really put you in a great position for law. My current plan to attend my state flagship (A top 25 school) with my 83 college credit hours I’m earning in high school. I’ll graduate in 2 years, at 20, and then go to law school…allowing me to apply to the Air Force to join at 23. The promotion schedule for Air Force Lawyers is different and I would be a captain while still 23, Major before 30, and Colonel by 40.

im geussing im gonna do that ‘doctor thing’ 2010 hopeful is talking about :P

mm, probably business. graphic design, maybe.

Possible career options if I have a sudden burst of creativity: digital artist, fiction writer
Potential career options: Duck farmer (I LOVE ducks), game designer, quantum computer scientist, computer scientist, some sort of engineer

I’m thinking of majoring in computer science, and I hope to take courses in game design, quantum physics, philosophy, digital art, creative writing, German or Russian, and/or duck-related biology :D

I’m definitely majoring in English, possibly double majoring with Education.
Uncertain where to go from there- grad school, but not sure what for. I could see being a HS teacher, a professor, a librarian, or a college counselor.

I’ve got a few different things I want to do that I can’t decide between - teacher (elementary/middle), accountancy-type things & I’ll probably do something writing-orientated at the same time. But I want to double major in Chem/Maths - is that even possible? It sounds like insane amounts of work. :D

Going to major in computer science and write a program where I’ll use it to run the family businesses more efficiently.

-Major in Political Science/International Relations, possibly with a minor in East Asian Studies.
-Career in writing Foreign Policy, with the UN, National Security Council, State Department, etc. I really want Susan Rice’s job (ambassador to the UN).
