You could ask them if they'll email internationals...

I emailed them asking but they haven't answered me.

um, i applied a couple days before the deadline. and yea, there was a letter about financial assistance included with the acceptance.

Unless the policy has changed since I've been there (and I doubt it), they mail all the acceptances at one time, the financial aid is included, and they do not post decisions online or inform by email. I think there is some time limit where, if as an international, you don't receive it in a week or something (it might be two?) they'll tell you over the phone.

If MN people received it today, they probably mailed Friday. Good luck all.

yea, the letter is dated march 21st, so it looks like they were sent on Friday.

Nothing in Chicago. Guess we aren't close enough. haha.

Received admission letter in Wisconsin . . . unfortunately too much $, so son won't be going to Carleton.

kimfred, where in wisconsin do you live? because i live in the southcentral area and did not receive a letter toady..

Rejected... female from MN

I hate that a 32 ACT and 4.0 can't cut it these days.. I had some good essays too

(I go to an art school for writing, so I'd assume my essays are at least an average applicant's)

plus a 3.95 uw

I'm involved with singing (awards), math (awards), jobs (awards), writing (awards), theatre (awards).
Not getting into Carleton was a blow and will probably mean I'm going to U of WI- Eau Claire.

2008 Grad, we live on the Mississipi in west central wisconsin - 2 hours from Northfield. I'd bet yours will be there on Monday. Good Luck!

libellusgirl, I'm so sorry; I can see (read?) how disappointed you are. The whys and wherefores of admissions are a mystery. My son got in places that surprised us and was rejected by places that surprised us.

Congrats to those of you accepted and good luck to all of you as this process of choosing a college continues!

Still waiting on transfer letter. :/ Probably won't receive it until May. Poopers. Congrats to everyone who got accepted. :)

So sorry for your disappointment, libellusgirl. It may be that your accomplishments led them to believe that you would prefer to go elsewhere...or perhaps you fell afoul of the "need aware" thing. Admissions are crazier all the time. Clearly you are a great candidate.

My S got his acceptance this AM. So far, Carleton is the only place to include FA in the packet. We'll have to see how it stacks up....now he has to decide whether to visit.

consolation, where are you from?

Anybody else named a WC scholar? I know there's no monetary award involved, but what, exactly, does the title mean? The only thing I could figure out from my acceptance packet is that Carleton will pay for half of our airfare should we choose to visit.

Congrats to everybody who got in!

I just received my mail, and although there were two large packages, they were both junk mail and the small Carleton envelope was underneath. Denied in Wisconsin. It's alright though because all along I knew Carleton would be a reach for me(3.8, 30, extracurriculars, male). I am still waiting to hear from my other top choice LAC, Grinnell, and am very hopeful. However, I will likely be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison next year. Congratulations to those already accepted and to those that have the big envelope on the way, and good luck to you in your years at Carleton!

Izzy, I think you'll also get a book about the history of Carleton. So far as I can tell, there aren't any other benefits to being named a William Carleton scholar. Congratulations!

2008grad, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and Grinnell.

And welcome new Carls and Carl parents!

Congrats to IzzyB and Consolation's son, fingers crossed for 2008grad regarding Grinnell, and wishes for speedy postal service for the rest of you!

andreaaaaa, we're in Maine.

My S also got something that said that partial airfare would be reimbursed if he visits before May 1 because he's an NMF. He hasn't been to the school, and if he's going to seriously consider accepting he needs to visit, so the gesture is much appreciated.
