Seeing as Carleton is one of my favorite colleges and that there isn’t an RD decisions thread up yet, I decided I might as well post one. Who else is anxious? And does anyone know exactly when decisions are released?
@Cascadian425 I am very nervous too! I have a friend who got in early decision, and I have a friend that currently goes there, and I have only heard good things about it! it is in my top three choices so I have been probably just as anxious as you are!
@indhopeful97 I think I wrote good essays and have decent stats/ECs, but I’m still worried that I won’t stand out very easily. Where are you from, and what do you want to study?
@indhopeful97 if I get in, it’s very likely that I’ll go to Carleton next year
@Cascadian425 Yeah I feel the same way! I am from Kansas and I am planning to study psych.
Regarding the OP’s question–if it is the same as past years, decisions should be released in late March.
@indhopeful97 Cool! I’m from Georgia. I’m definitely interested in Carleton’s ENTS, American Studies, and History departments, but I’m still mostly undecided.
@Pootie Thanks! I was wondering if there was a set date on which to access them online.
Good luck! Don’t be nervous, it probably won’t help you relax but… it’s all beyond your control right now. Let go and enjoy the rest of your senior year
Carleton has always sent out letters by snail mail first (at least to those residing in the US). So you may get a letter before they would post them online.
I have received this email today from the admission office; what does it mean?
…First of all, your application is complete and in order…we hope this note assures you that everything’s on track.
Now, don’t stop thinking about tomorrow or anything, but do give yourself a moment to relax. We’re impressed precisely because we know you’ve given your best effort. Give yourself some credit…we hope you find a moment to kick back and relax. There’s nothing left to do now but wait. Inhale. Exhale. You’ll be hearing from us soon.
@mnsnow looks like everyone has got this email, I sure have !
There’s an entire thread dedicated to this, check it out if you want : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carleton-college/1748039-bubble-wrap-and-putt-putt-email.html

“Admissions decisions will be mailed shortly! Good luck to our regular decision candidates! #carleton2019”
YAY! I hope packets will be sent out this week!
do they mail rejection letters to international applicants too? because last year my friend didn’t get official rejection letter.
Are the domestic rejection letters mailed at the same time as the acceptances?
@Joe2015 I looked at last year’s RD thread, and no one received a rejection letter before the online release date. This is the only helpful post I could find find:
“I received an email from the Admissions confirming that all applicants including international applicants will receive a letter regardless of what the decision is.” ( @aliefmoulana If that post was true, then it’s definitely odd that you’re friend didn’t get a rejection letter)
I think that they probably don’t send rejection letters through USPS Priority Mail, which is why they would come later. Priority Mail for the big blue acceptance packets should take 1-3 days, though it took longer for some people last year. So if you don’t get a packet before the 28th, don’t assume you’re rejected! It seems like quite a few people found out they had been accepted through the online portal, and then got their packets in the mail later on.
*Oh and just a side note, but people started getting acceptances as early as the 20th last year! Some of us might know by the end of this week! :-SS
I just got an e-mail yesterday from international adcom that my postal code was misspelled, then I sent her the correct one. I just got the e-mail again that the code still didn’t work out, so she suggested to send it to my boarding school, but since I don’t live there anymore I asked her to send it to my parent’s office. She’s going to tell me when I should expect the letter today, because they’re still finalizing the last stage of mailing decisions.
do you think it is a sign of acceptance or rejection?
and she just wrote that I should expect the letter to arrive some time next week.
@aliefmoulana If they send letters to everyone, then I don’t think you can read too much into whether it is an acceptance or rejection… We’ll just have to wait But that’s good to know we’ll get them next week!
Thanks @alleycat2 good sleuthing!
I sure hope we get them this week.
A friend of mine who applied this cycle got a call from the football coach that he would hear from them on Friday. Hoping for him that it’s a good omen.
