Accepted! Found out on my portal this morning and my letter just arrived in the mail!! (I’m on the east coast)
Congrats to all the potential new Carls!
And best of luck to those waitlisted or denied. The good thing is that there are lots of great colleges out there.
I got accepted!! I’m still waiting for other decisions, but I wish the best luck to everyone who is still waiting and congratulations to everyone who knows!
waitlisted- How many of you are planning on accepting the waitlist spot? Still deciding whether I want to or not. Any advice?
Waitlisted as well. I’m definitely staying on, carleton is my top choice and if they decided to accept people off the waitlist, I’m going to do the best I can to make sure I’m one of them.
This past year, Carleton took 16 people off the waitlist; they took nine the year before. It’s always a long shot, but if it’s where you want to go then it doesn’t hurt to stay on, unless you are going to pine for something that may never be. Embrace your other options and count getting off the WL as a happy surprise.
I don’t think Carleton is need-blind when it comes to the WL, so if you are a full-payer that might help. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
My best advice is to let them know, if it’s true, that you WILL attend should you be taken off the waitlist. Update them with any additional awards/achievements. In other words, let them know your interest but don’t be a pest. Good luck!
waitlisted in Iowa!!
D wait listed. Sad, but she knows it’s a reach. Her top choice though, tied with one other school. She will accept the waitlist.
Waitlisted. Won’t accept as I got into Northwestern, which I like way more than Carleton. Congrats to all those accepted.
Sorry, @Lindagaf. Sounds like that one’s a real blow. Give her a hug for me. My sympathies to the other disappointed applicants, too. Tough business, this college admissions process.
@rayrick , yes, this is a roller coaster. She is okay. She knows the realities of being waitlisted, but I have to say, it feels marginally better than a rejection, even if it essentially is. And I should say, commiserations to those not accepted, and congratulations to those who have been. I am not into having sour grapes, and Carleton is a great school, but there are many others too.
We’re actually still in suspense here, because we live far away and haven’t gotten the mail yet, and my son hasn’t checked his portal because he’s actually off on a trip visiting another school! It’s a huge reach for him, though, so we’ll all be pretty stunned if he’s accepted.
Waitlisted. No big heartache for S. He didn’t have his hopes pinned on Carleton (as much as I love the school). And we’re actually a little heartened he didn’t get flat-out rejected, which was certainly a possibility.
Did anyone get rejected? Everyone seems to either have been accepted or waitlisted.
Congrats to all who have been accepted and to those who haven’t, keep your head up, good things await you. =)
DD got rejected today. A bit surprising because she was accepted by Pomona College, U of Michigan and College of William & Mary (early write).
DD got in!!! So excited. It was her top choice.
Rejection here also. While Carleton was D’s first choice for a long time, her second became a close contender and has accepted her with a generous FinAid package. I think she’s actually relieved to not have to make a difficult decision. There a few decisions not yet in but unlikely they can top the acceptance and offer currently in hand.
@Redpandabear, it’s interesting that your daughter was accepted by Pomona and rejected by Carl. It was exactly the opposite with mine. The system does seem kind of random.
Accepted over portal!!
