Well I am sure I am not the only one applying ED, so how is everything going.

I’m so excited! I can’t believe that within four months I could know where I’m going to college!

I will be applying ED too. Carleton is really my dream school and I pray that the deans will grant me admission this december!

Im an international applicant, currently on a gap year! :)

ED1. Carleton felt like the perfect fit when I visited. It’s a high reach for me.

Yeah, it’s a pretty big reach for me. All of my test scores are in the range of accepted students but they’re in the lower range, unfortunately. I hope more than anything that I’ll get in! :)

Same here^,and yeah it feels like home to me there, especially after I did CLAE there.

Same here EDI, i really like everything about Carleton! And i would like to think of it as one of the most underrated colleges in US. :)

Anyway, does Carleton only look at CR+M for the SAT scores?

And also, I’ve heard that colleges in the Northeast (those at accessible distances from NY and Boston etc) are often visited by prominent figures in many fields as guest lecturers/speakers on campus, correct me if I am wrong. Does Carleton have that on campus too?

@borneoboy: Carleton looks at all three sections of the SAT (and the writing portion of the ACT, because they require it). I have no idea what their policy is as far as giving it equal consideration with the other sections, but I’m sure that’s a question the admissions office gets a lot, so if you’re concerned, just ask.

Also, Carleton has a weekly speaker series called Convocation, or Convo. Speakers come to campus every Friday, and the class schedule is altered so that no class takes place at that time. My favorite Convo speaker from last year was the American senior editor of the Harry Potter series (a Carleton grad :)). You can look at past/current schedules here: [Carleton College: Convocations: 2010-2011 Convocations Schedule](http://apps.carleton.edu/events/convocations/)

In addition to Convo, there’s always something going on as far as guest speakers/lecturers/events. Take a look at some of the past NNBs (Noon News Bulletins) here: [Carleton College NNB: Noon News Bulletin](Carleton College NNB: Noon News Bulletin) It’s published three times a week and advertises most campus events.

Good luck everybody! If you have any questions about anything–and especially if you’re seeking student or parent perspectives–don’t hesitate to ask on this board.

wow thanks mflevity. That has definitely helped a lot. Carleton is certainly a very vibrant campus.

May I also ask, how are the internship opportunities like for most Carleton students? Generally do most students have internships in the Twin Cities, or does Carleton’s resources permit students to have internships in other cities like Chicago/NY/Boston?
