PROFILE: White/middle class/suburban/female

The only thing that concerns me a little is a lot of people have had internships already and i haven't been able to do any of that. i applied for an internship with the district attorney's office, but didn't get a reply (probably because it was a college internship that they said "just go ahead and apply... we'll see what happens").

Let me know what you think my chances are for these schools. Also, if there is anything else i should focus on improving, let me know.

um....in at all 4, knox is about automatic

is knox not really that great? or just fewer applicants?

shamefully i'm bumping

knox is awesome, my mom went there, and its a good small school where you get a lot of personal attention

movin on up

Carleton- 77% in
Lawrence- 97% in
Knox- 99% in
Grinnell - 79% in

bump.......

Julia , have you visited them? I think you will get into all of them, Knox and Lawrence will give you pretty decent merit award- consider about 15K for Knox and about 10K for Lawrence.
Carleton and Grinell are match for you but I would not bet on much from merit aid, maybe couple of K as an incentive.
Knox is amazing college with tons of unique opprtunities but you have to visit it to know. Their motto- Freedom to flourish- is actually followed.
Advice for your application- be yourself, think of what kind of person you want to present. These people will care about knowing you as a whole person, not only your stats.

Don't worry about the internships - the special olympiads/assistant to a mentally disabled adult is interesting, and I imagine has made you a more thoughtful person. I like your list - try to visit if you have not done so already. Best wishes and give yourself enough time to do a good job on your essay.

what about oberlin, macalester and kenyon? also great lac's and definitely solid matches for you. macalester an grinnell are known for their generous aids so i'm sure you'll get some k in grants, not sure about merit aids though.
