Right now I'm trying to decide between Carl, Mac, and Denison. I've visited Denison and I really liked it, even though it isn't as "competitive" as the other schools. I plan on visiting Carl and Mac really soon, and I hope to have the same sort of gut reaction telling me yes or no.

I got waitlisted at Pomona so it's still on my mind, but I'm trying to not think about it since waitlists are really unpredictable.

I'd love to hear whatever you have to say about any or all of the schools. Thanks!

I was reading "Disney War" (great book btw) and found out that Michael Eisner went to Denison. Supposedly he had a great time there (loved the student organizations and activities) and felt that his liberal arts education was a huge asset to his business life. Oh, and Roy Disney went to Pomona, it's where I first heard of the school. Just a couple trivial tidbits!

Here's a fan letter for Denison...

I think that the schools mentioned will prepare you equally for what's next,(flame suit on), but I have a bias and it may run counter to what the ratings lead you to believe.

While the academic ratings may favor the northern schools, I think the Denison administration puts a lot of emphasis on its May month-long internship program, which largely (but not exclusively) feeds off its alumni base). They seem to be quite interested in what their new alums will be doing and how they get there...I view graduation as the "on-boarding program to corporate America." They seem to take this seriously.

Make sure to compare that approach with what the other listed schools offer to their new Seniors ("Thanks for the dough, don't let the door hitcha when you leave...oh...and don't forget about your alumni contributions!!!" Bye now...)...

Yeah, it might just be a "hook" for Denison's administration. Ted Bates made an advertising empire after WWII by coining the phrase USP...referring to a product or service's Unique Selling Proposition...this month-long internship program is certainly part of D-son's USP.

What are the USPs of those other schools? I think this one works in an era when many if not most pending college grads are frightened silly over what a liberal arts degree confers on them. Do theirs? This may help even the playing field when comparing the schools. Do some armchair analysis on this issue.

When my D was accepted at Denison a couple of years ago, we got a neat letter over Eisner's sig...This year, with our S' acceptance, this has changed to a letter from ESPN's Prez, also a D-son grad (I guess the school's thinking goes...now that Eisner is retired, who cares if he welcomes you...LOL!).
