Which would you choose and why?

Call Carleton to try to get them to match the $ you received from Grinnell; it cannot hurt to try.

My daughter is a freshman at Carleton and I offer these observations, although in no way are they meant to disparage Grinnell. For her, Carleton has proven to be everything I wished for her. Seven of her new friends visited us during their quarter break and they were terrific kids: bright, engaging, funny, and down to earth. Perhaps I'm out on a limb here, but that seems to be the type of person who elects to go to Carleton. In addition, she has found the classes--especially the science ones--to be academically challenging in the best sense of the term. She tells me frequently that the school reminds its students regularly that one of its main missions is to teach each one of them how to be a critical thinker. Now is that music to a parent's ear or what?

Northfield is a sweet and old river town--quite charming, in my opinion. My daughter has taken the daily bus shuttle to St. Paul several times since school began and likes being near the Twin Cities but not in them.

Finally, she is not a big partier and says that there is no pressure to imbibe or inhale.

Hope this helps!

I would go to Grinnell with $.

My daughter is leaning toward Carleton with no money over Grinnell with $10,000.

May I ask why the leaning away towards Grinnell?
