College Choices
1. College: MCS Dept: BSC Program: Decision: Not Admitted
2. College: HSS Dept: PSY Program: Decision: Accept

I'm kind of disappointed. If CMU doesn't extend an invite for me to be part of the Science & Humanities Scholars Program, I won't be attending, since I want to double major in biology & psychology, and there are better ways to accomplish my goals than by going through HSS.

ahh just got my FAT letter for tepper! so excited!! =)

aphoticmelody, I'm pretty sure that to be in the cross-school double major programs, the first requirement is being accepted to both schools. And even out of those accepted to both schools, they say not everyone will get accepted to the program. Sigh, I know... I was hoping to do the science and art one, but got rejected from CFA.
However, my admissions officer person I interviewed with, when I told him this was the one and major reason I was interested in Carnegie Mellon, told me that there is a good number of people who are either stronger in art or in science who come in by being accepted at one school, take electives at the other school to get better, and transfer into the program their sophomore year. (I'd imagine the same would apply to the humanities/science branch of that) Of course it's a gamble--you might not get admitted as a transfer anymore than as a freshman. But, I thought you might be interested to know =)

wow.... live only 2 hours away from pittsburgh, and even today I haven't got anything yet.............................................what does this mean

Made it, accepted MCS, CIT. I'm also apparently a science and humanities scholar, whatever that's worth.

Accepted into College of Humanities and Social Sciences, don't know what the abbreviation is for that.

Probably not going to go though.

Off-topic: What's with the Scottish theme on the FAT letter?

can someone tell me their stats who got accepted to HSS only? As I only applied to them, and wold like to know some idea of what to expect

I understand it's unlikely I'll be accepted to SHS, but you never know. It seems to me (so far, anyways) to be something extended to people accepted to MCS, even if they didn't apply to HSS, and not so much the other way around.

I'll probably find out tomorrow (it can only take so long for mail to get from PA to MI... right?).

Thank you! :)

I'm sure that if I did well, there's a good possibility I could be accepted as a transfer... However, I'd rather not take the risk. Since I'm going to be pre-med, and I'm really interested in biology, chemistry, and psychology, it doesn't make much sense to satisfy only one of those interests, no matter how much I LOVE the school. :) (And trust me, I do LOVE it; it used to be my first choice.)

University of Miami gave me $24k/year, plus they'll accept up to 60 credits from AP scores, which is half of what's needed to graduate. If I went, I'd be coming in as a junior, give or take a couple credits. I could study abroad and easily double or triple major, and still graduate on time (or earlier).

Case Western also gave me scholarship $, but I haven't taken the time to look carefully into their policies - I was too tired after poring through UMiami's. ;)

So basically, even though I'm disappointed, it's not the end of the world. :) I have some really great opportunities, and if I'm accepted by Tufts or Wesleyan, I could have even more.

ACCEPTED!!!!

Honestly, I'm rather surprised. I'm not a spectacular applicant; only average.

Nothing yet, nothing online or in the mail. I live in MD and applied to CIT. :(

accepted to CFA (architecture) denied to CIT
gpa 4.0, 4.3
rank- 1
ACT-30
SAT-not really sure, somewhere around high 1800 low 1900

I was accepted at SCS, Tepper, and CIT, and have already received a recruitment phone call from a CMU student.

Accepted!! to MCS - Chemistry

I haven't received anything in the mail, but my online "Where am I in the process?" status page says Decision: Accept

Accepted to Tepper--I only applied to Tepper
