the "where am i in the process" place isn't uploading for me... even before signing in... did it crash?

Same thing happens to me - looks like they're doing something to the server. Hopefully the decisions will be up soon.

Before I'd actually gotten my letter, I asked a friend who currently goes to CMU about when he'd gotten his a couple of years ago. He told me mid-April, so I'd say that you shouldn't worry until April 15th hits and you haven't heard. Really, it could just be slow mail/complications - I've gotten a lot of my other letters later than everyone else, too :[

it's telling me it can't access my applicant data now. worked yesterday?

You know it's not a separate link on the where are you in the process screen pop-up screen. Look carefully at the list of schools you applied to at CMU, you'll see

College Choices
1. College: TSB Dept: S00 Program: Decision: Accept
2. College: IS Dept: IS Program: Decision: Accept
3. College: SCS Dept: M-C Program: Decision: Cancel

It's subtle. They change the wording from Applied to Accept or whatever. I only know this because I looked after I got my FAT letter in the mail.

My letter finally came in the mail today (mailed Thursday, March 22nd). I live in MI. Don't worry if you haven't gotten anything yet! :)

thank god! haha it said mine was mailed 3/22 too and I have yet to get mine either (IL)! Hopefully that means mine will be here today too! Congrats =]

Well, I just got rejected from Cornell, so they'd better let me in :(

got rejected from Cornell and Brown

fyi, learned of my son's admission on March 26, via "where am I in the process" which also indicated his notification was mailed 22 March. Today is 30 March and nothing has arrived via snail mail, yet.

^^^ Me too, and I am in DFW, no wonder it is called snail mail

3 of my friends at plano senior high have been accepted...like 3 days ago

i have received no mail, and the "Where am I in the Process" page only shows decision as blank. Does this simply mean I was rejected?

No, it doesn't. They supposedly mailed the third batch of letters yesterday. So, I guess we should be receiving our letters soon.

Rejected from Comp. Sci

SAT: 710 math 740 CR 550 writing
SAT II: 780 math2 720 physics
ACT: 33 math 33 science 28 english 27 reading
UW GPA: 3.6ish rank: unknown
Only 1 AP class (out of a total of 3 at my school)
not much in extracurriculars... just varsity swimming + quiz bowl
crappy essay I spent like 20 minutes on hehe.

Not really disappointed since I accepted Georgia Tech last month (yep, I would have chose GT over CMU even if I did get accepted here)

*** how did i get waitlisted? my stats got me into unc out of state . to those still waiting i got my letter and cmu's website still has nothing up

A state school has more numbers driven admission than a private school. I have no idea what your stats are, hinvestorp, but my guess is that you have a strong GPA/SAT/other scores, but weaker extracurriculars or essays.

I am in New York and it shows nothing under "decision". Any ideas why that is and when they will be posted?

actaully, my extracurriculars are really good, as are my essays, my stats are like 1510/2200, 5% in my class.... so nothing really special. plus we're looking at unc which looks at your ec's and essays alot more than most publics.all in all when i saw the small package from cmu i was surprised and then it went straight to the garbage. priority waitlist lol

My son just got his wait list decision from the college of humanities and social sciences. To be honest, we were pretty shocked (I know we shouldn't be). He was accepted at Obelin, Brandeis, U. Rochester, Skidmore, Northeastern Honors with a terrific scholarship, U.Md Honors with a good scholarship, U. Wisconsin.
Stats:
770 M, 690 V, 620 W (which we were told repeatedly wouldn't count by anyone this year or he would have taken the SAT's again)
SATII's 750's mathII and Bio
will finish with 8 AP's -- American and Comparative Govt, psych, stats, calc BC, World history, Bio, Human Geo
GPA weighted very high, unweighted decent (but not great- slightly over B, so perhaps his downfall?)
Very good to excellent recommendations.
All I can think of is that he goes to his school district's HS where the math and science magnet is located but is not in it, so perhaps CMU considered him "in competition" with those stellar kids...
Compared to the stats on CMU's own webside for HSS he seemed to be great...
And I had a great friend who was a department head there for a while and he knew my kid and thought my kid would have no trouble getting in...

anyhow, I say this not to brag up my kid.... but ... to add a piece of information to the mix... has it simply gotten that much more competitive? Have they gotten a completely different slice of applicants????

So, in conclusion.... congrats to all of you who got in and best of luck...
commisserations to all those who were rejected, waitlisted or are in limbo...
I can't but imagine that every single one of you who applied is anything but talented and smart... and will one day be a successful college graduate! Your character, happiness and ability to do good are all in your own hands!
