Does anyone know the deadline? The site said April 1 for international but May 1 for US. Is that right for this year?

@ProvocativePanda Sorry. I meant 112 not 115. Things like this happen when I’m sleep deprived. Even though it assumes no programming experience, it’s pretty fast paced. Plus, CMU is known for their comp sci department, so why not right?

If anyone ends up going this summer and has questions about the program, post or PM me :)

Thanks @kitkat8127, I just sent my application and am hoping I get in. Do you remember what stats/ ECs you got in with? I’m kind of nervous. And I’ll probably buff up my programming before if I get in.

I applied to SAMS and I’m wondering if I’m “over qualified” for it.
ACT: 33
Unweighted GPA: 3.9
Weighted GPA: 4.9
AP/college classes: human Geo, APUSH, chem, psychology, English, and government
Would they consider me for the AP/EA program?

@emywemy610 i have the same stats as yours, but im asian so i probably get rejected.

@AllenRen I’m Hispanic. Does that give me an advantage?

@AllenRen @emywemy610 I also have similar stats and am Asian which means I have a .01% chance of getting in… This is also my last chance of getting into a summer program so it’s pretty much a bummer haha

@engineering2015 i am probably doing operation catapult in rose-hulman…though not really prestigious, and im finding a summer internship in college lab

@AllenRen Well at least you still have a solid summer ahead of you! Do you think it matters that I don’t have an internship or summer program this summer if I already had a really prestigious engineering internship last summer?

@engineering2015 i think thats good enough…btw what was it

@AllenRen it was an internship at a national science lab but I don’t wanna say which one in case people find out who I am haha… But it had an acceptance rate of 9%

@emywemy610 you’re probably overqualified if you’ve taken all of the classes that they offer at SAMS! I have, so I just automatically applied for AP/EA. Yeep! And you definitely have an advantage being Hispanic. Us Asians get unequal treatment :(

This is my last opportunity for a summer program! I may be able to do some research at Mayo Clinic… But I’d really prefer to go to AP/EA. Although a stickler is that if I do get accepted, my volunteering coordinator says she’ll have to terminate me because I’d be missing too many shifts. Soooooooooo who knows.

ANYONE KNOW WHEN WE’LL BE HEARING BACK FROM THEM?

Either early or half way through his month. Hopefully it’ll be soon! And thanks, that helps me with my question .

They sent out the admissions letters yesterday!!!

To clarify, they use snail mail, so it’ll take a bit of time for it to come to you, depending on where you live.

@anniesunshine how do you know they sent the mail yesterday?

@emywemy610 I called the admissions office personally and inquired.

@anniesunshine oh ok, so decisions should get to us soon! That’s exciting!

Emy have you received a decision yet?

@ProvocativePanda Nope, nothing.
