I'm going to apply for the school of art and school of design. However, I'm lacking a portfolio.

Classes that are close to art classes are only offered to the industrial design major and media major in my school. (Since I'm a social science major, I can't take them.) It wasn't till the beginning of senior year I realized I want to major in art, so I only have a few drawings, which I don't think are good enough.

I would appreciate it if someone can tell me what I should include in my portfolio because the school's website is kind of vague about it.

I've seen some amazing portflios, so I'm unconfident about getting in since I read somewhere that your portfolio counts for 80-90% of the decision. Any advice is welcome.

I’m applying to the same Schools too!
They do want the portfolio to reflect who you are, kind of a story of you.
I think that will give you a good idea of what to include in your portfolio.
GOGOGOGO. YOU CAN DO IT!!! You still got time, and if you really focus hard, you’ll be able to get those pieces done
Don’t do a general like, if you like music, draw music notes or something, and if you like reading, draw a story of a book in another one or something. The whole thing’s gotta connect with each other. The best way to not get all the pieces all over the place is to have one piece or two that sums up everything else. Like a “FI-NA-LEE” piece.
Also, if you’re putting in symbolism, don’t make it too recognizable, though not completely vague. Gotta make the people wonder about your piece.
Also, it’s great to put in some observational drawings. Colleges always like that, it seems… like reflection drawings and all.
Also, try to use varying media for your pieces. Just to show that you “can”.
Ummmm…

That’s all I could think of right now! haha GOOD LUCK!!! Let’s both hope for the best!

btw, DON’T GET DISCOURAGED!! Those other “amazing” portfolios are THEIR portfolios, not YOURS. Make it AMAZINGLY YOURS. kay? kay. PIECE~ (yea I know it’s peace.)
