nobody from my school got anything yet in the mail, so im hoping that my area just hasn’t delivered it yet
We are upstate, and no - but called and they said it is NOT true that accepted (domestic) students went out priority mail, it seems people here are saying it was though, so i am just completely confused, can’t wait for tomorrow…BLAH!
Mail in our corner of Brooklyn comes late in the day . . .
Some classmates in pittsburgh got the news via mail today…
I’m from California and I got my acceptance letter in priority mail. I actually got 2 of the same exact packages
@saraaa2 which part of California? Is it USPS priority mail? I am from bay area and think postman come around 2PM.
@saraaa2 what’s the color of the envelope…the usps priority mail white and blue package or the CMU evelope just mailed priority service? thanks.
When are decisions supposed to be released online, is it midnight EDT?
@befree8 I’m from San Diego county @1234Aspirations it was just in a normal CMU white envelope with a sticker on it that says USPS priority mail
This is just so ridiculous and way more stressful than it should be, a straight answer would have been great from admissions, why would they not be honest?, We should have gotten it already if it were sent by priority mail. And my D was ‘pre-accepted’ at her audition in January (school of drama/design) so this is a real let down if she didn’t get in, we were more curious about the FA than the acceptance, and now it almost looks like she may not actually have been accepted. Guess we will just need to check the portal tomorrow, so much for the champagne for tonight haha. Gratefully she has several excellent choices but this one was special
How is CMU with Financial Aid?
I believe CMU meets all demonstrated need in the early decision round only. In the regular decision round, they may/may not meet all need.
Just because you haven’t received a letter in the mail yet doesn’t mean you didn’t get in. They send all letters in priority mail (acceptances and rejections) because they want everyone to view their decision status in mail before they see it electronically, hence why even if you already received your letter you still can’t see anything in the portal.
@saraaa2 then why has nobody posted saying they got rejected?
@nagintapls I don’t know but I do know that my friend who applied got her rejection letter in the mail yesterday
@nagintapls I don’t know but I do know that my friend who applied got her rejection letter in the mail yesterday
I understand what you are saying that one shouldn’t assume rejection - but everyone here is saying they got a prioiry mail letter if they were admitted, admissions is saying they didn’t sent them priority mail. The logic behind this process is escaping me completely, if they want everyone to know at the same time why not post all online at the same time.
@saraaa2 oh wow, thanks for that information! it’s comforting to know that. Sorry to your friend, of course.
@upstate13 I don’t know the reasoning behind it but in the student portal it says on the bottom “The Carnegie Mellon Office of Admission intends for all students to receive their official notification of admission decisions and financial aid awards through the mail and not on this display. Due to this, decision and financial aid award information will not appear on this display until three days after the letters have been mailed to you. We apologize in the event that these notification letters fail to reach you before you view the data on this display.”
@nagintapls no problem!
Yes, for a technology school, it’s been a strange season of notifications for CMU. First, all those graduate students were told they got into SCS - before being told “oops, never mind.” Then there was the waitlist going live, and CMU having no clue about it until people began accepting a spot on the waitlist. Now misinformation is being told to applicants about how the decisions were sent. Perhaps some junior at SCS, as a senior thesis project, should program a better notification system.
