Carnegie Mellon Class of 2021 Applicants Discussion Thread

@alexa2143 someone here said they were supposed to be mailed out today so hopefully we’ll get them in a couple days

On my portal it says “unable to access data”… Anyone else got this problem?

Never mind, it came back. Good luck to everyone on Saturday!

Hey i have a question. Do rejected and waitlisted applicants also get a mail as well? because the email that carnegie mellon sent stated that “All admitted students will also receive important supporting documents and information regarding their admission decision by postal mail.” So, I wasn’t sure if everyone gets an admission result mail…

Actually never mind. The admission office said they only mail the admits not waitlists or rejects

@sonia1216 - thanks! That’s super useful! There’s been some conflicting info on that. Did they confirm that this year they are only mailing out acceptances ?

Yes. She said only acceptances will be mailed out, and the overall admission decisions(accept, waitlist, reject) will all be posted on the portal.

Has anyone been able to confirm if admission letters will be mailed out before decisions are released online?

Does anyone see “Financial aid notification” button - just below admission and financial aid notification (in red color) message - couple of students see this button … - - Any significant we can attach to this?

I see this button but doesn’t everyone?

Hi… what is the acceptance rate for Engineering at CMU?

@momof3co @SPASPA Only people who applied for aid

ok so people should not attach any significance … i guess

i meant does it mean - they are likely to get admission to cmu?

Does CMU Engineering factor in science fair awards at state level of Siemens semifinalist award into admissions?

@2017xxxx

That’s very specific. Here’s the deal: CMU will take every applicant’s extracurricular activities into account when making decisions.

@2017xxxx You can find that info re acceptance rates for schools on the CMU website. And I’m sure they look at all your awards and accomplishments, as well as everyone elses

thanks… looks like it is 13% for Engineering

Someone on here said they called admissions and acceptance letters/packages are being mailed out today. Do you think we’ll receive the packages before we see our decisions online if we’re accepted?

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for chemistry majors?
