Carnegie Mellon Dietrich vs NYU CAS for Economics and International Relations

Hi guys! I am posting this for a friend who got into CMU Dietrich and NYU CAS. She plans on majoring in Economics and International Relations but is unsure what to choose between the two. CMU has more prestige, and her parents are really pushing her to go, but she likes the opportunities to find internships in NYC, especially during the school year when there is less competition; she wouldn’t have that in CMU in Pittsburgh. Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I’m going through the same difficulties in choosing my college… I’m in Dietrich for economics at CMU and CAS at NYU. im not sure which to pick haha

@JimtheBoy What do you think are the pros and cons of each?

I truthfully can’t say fully because I’m yet to visit, however I can say that both ate outrageously expensive to attend. NYU has a perfect location for a job in Econ and finance or other business related fields. Likewise, NYU features a much more prominent social life. That being said, CMU has a better prestige and it’s very easy to take classes as part of the Tepper Business School. However I’ve heard the workload is killer and the Pittsburg location may not be very conducive to finding internships for economics, especially for a school that focuses well on technology.
