Carnegie Mellon Dietrich vs NYU CAS for Economics and International Relations

Hi guys! I am posting this for a friend who got into CMU Dietrich and NYU CAS. She plans on majoring in Economics and International Relations but is unsure what to choose between the two. CMU has more prestige, and her parents are really pushing her to go, but she likes the opportunities to find internships in NYC, especially during the school year when there is less competition; she wouldn’t have that in CMU in Pittsburgh. Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I think it really depends on where she wants to live and whether she wants a traditional college campus or would rather be in New York. CMU definitely can get her internships, but not the wide range of opportunities that exist in NYC. Has she visited both schools? The CMU campus is in Oakland, next to U of Pitt, and is filled with college students. It’s a completely different feel than NYU.
