I have received the following scores in IELTS - 8.5, 8.5, 7.0, 7.0 (Overall 8.0)
Will CMU Accept this, I am applying ED

With 34 ACT, Maths 33 and Science 35. GPA 3.75 what are my chances to get into CMU Information Systems. My extracurricular are very good, good LORs and very good essay.

What is the acceptance rate of Information Systems?

did anyone get an Additional School Transcript request on their portal

IELTS

We require at least a 7.5 overall band score on the Academic Examination and give consideration to those with subscores of 7.5 and above.

I think you should consider it a Reach school. IS has an ACT interquartile of 35-36, an average GPA of 3.89, and a 24% accept rate.

Ok, Thanks for your reply. One more thing my GPA in 10th,11th and 12th mid term is 4, but in 9th grade it was only 3. Do they look at senior year or they give weightage to junior year too.

If you are applying RD, your mid-year update should include your grades through the first semester of Senior year and these will be included in the decision process.

Apply for early decision. In 10th GPA is 4, 11th GPA is 4, and in 12th mid term GPA is 4. In 9th GPA is 3.

I scored a 34 on the ACT, with a 35 in Math and 32 in Science, in addition to a 4.0 GPA (unweighted) and being class rank 1. How solid are my chances of getting into the SCS, considering I applied ED?

Yours seem to be an uptrend. My D22 has 2 Bs in her PE and health (She has a weak ankle and for health she missed a high weightage assignemt when she had a contest to fly to east coast). We have told her not to justify because they are still Bs. But if you have a C or lower and have a proper justification you can always add it to the additional info in common app. When asked, most AOs told us not to care about few Bs if they are anywhere other than core courses. At the end of the day it all depends on how your other parts of application fair.

With a 7% accept rate, everyone has a low chance of being admitted.

4.0 is above the 3.95 admitted student average. The ACT composite interquartile range is 35-36 and Math is 36-36.

My son received…Is this the progress report? How will they look into it?

if semester system it is quarter 1 grades
according to my counselor…

it is not the final grade, will they look too much into it? My son has a B in the report because the teacher has not graded much of their work. Will CMU look much into it? I am nervous.

Not clear what you mean “look much into it”.

They will use a 1st quarter grade report as what it is - indicator of progress in current classes.

Since my son has straight A up to this point, this B in the progress report is not the final grade, he has a lot of work in the pipeline to bring it up. I just hope they won’t conclude this as a downward trend.

IMHO, just getting one B is not going to change the way they perceive his application if he has straight As throughout, as long as other parts of applications talks about him. He can check with the admissions as well, my D22 has called to clarify when she had to choose between MCS and SCS (RDing though)
