<p>It submits to the financial aid office and they simulate what aid you would get if you were attending starting this fall (8/2012).</p>
<p>CMU will meet need AS THEY DEFINE IT for ED applicants that they accept. They do not guarantee to meet full need for RD applicants, but…sometimes they do, if they want you badly enough. THe estimate they give is an average for what all students would get under RD, not what YOU would necessarily get. Also CMU is one school that welcomes “competing” FA packages from like schools and will negotate, something you cannot due in the ED scenario.</p>
