Hi,
Im a pre-med considering transferring to CMU from a large public 3rd tier university. Carnegie mellon is known for its engineering/computer sciences..and i feel like i rarely hear anything about their pre-med program. So what i want to know is..is it worth it?? the public university i go to now is half the cost and i was in the upper notch in most of my classes..but the study environment and location are not not favorable. So, is it worth the switch??

Uh... last time I checked, I don't know you. You tell me what school is better for you.

wellllll okay then.
let me rephrase...
Does carnegie mellon have a strong pre-med program?

I would imagine the pre-med program is at CMU as good as the school you currently attend. If you think CMU would help you excel more in your major, however, then go for it.

I considered Carnegie Mellon. I eventually decided to go to Case Western (where I'll be in the fall) because I want to double-major in bio & psych, and CMU has separate humanities & science colleges.

CMU is highly reputable in many areas - business, CS, engineering, econ, math, science. You will definitely be getting a good education if you attend. CMU also has a very tough grading system, from my understanding.

Look closely at the requirements for your major - for example, all Mellon College of Science students must take computer science, which is relatively unusual. You may have gen. ed requirements that aren't met.

Overall, I think that if it feels right to you, go to CMU.
