Income is less than 75k a year.
I also should have amazing recommendations. I'm actually getting a recommendation from my electronics teacher who used to work for Goldman Sachs. I'm not sure if that will help too much though.

I am Asian and live in NYC. I want to major in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. I am probably going to apply for CIT if i choose Carnegie for ED. Do I have a better chance of getting into CIT or Cornell? I am also applying regular decision to Purdue, UMich, UIllinois-Urbana Champaign, Rose-Hulman, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Thank you so much for the feedback guys!

Your test scores are definitely going to hurt you. As far as which one you are ore likely to get into, they are probably going to be around the same difficulty

What score would you suggest getting on the ACT? I’m taking iy again and I’m aiming for a 33+. But would it be betyer if i apply for ED right now or regular decision if I get my score up?

If you apply ED to Cornell or CIT, your chances are not that great given your scores, low weighted GPA (what is your class rank?) and EC’s that are okay but nothing outstanding. CMU has arguably the top undergraduate CS dept. in the country. You really need to be a very strong applicant to get into the school. Cornell engineering school is a top school as well. Getting your ACT score up would help… a little. You have a better shot at some of the other schools on your list (btw, Perdue and Rose-Hulman are at the opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of size, student body etc.) but if you want to roll the dice and apply early to Cornell or CMU go ahead. I would just make sure you don’t get your hopes up too high - it’s extremely competitive at the top and your stats are below what they are looking for. Make sure you have safeties that you are okay with attending.

32+ would be needed, but judging by your reading and science scores, I’m not sure if you’ll be able to bump those up enough.

How many AP’s did you take and how did you do? I don’t get how being an AP Scholar is “pending”. Either you are or you aren’t at this point. If you mean you think you will be after you take the exams next May then it doesn’t count. Honestly speaking, perhaps you should look into applying early to a school that you are more of a match or low reach. In any event, good luck with everything!!

31 to 32 won’t make much difference.

I guess I am not an AP scholar then because usually, people in my school can’t take a lot of APs until senior year. Usually it’s just world history and us history. But doesnt the essay weigh a lot too? I heard thay even if some dont seem too strong as an applicant, the essay can make a huge difference. And about the ACT scores, it was my first time taking and I only prepped for a week before the test. I wish I started prepping for it earlier instead of focusing on the SAT. Would i need to submit the sat scores even if i only want to submit act scores instead of sat?
