Carnegie Mellon Pre-College 2017

I am attending Carnegie Mellon’s NHSGA Summer Pre-College this summer. I was wondering if someone can give me tips on making friends, things to do in Pittsburgh, staying safe, having fun, roommate advice, or how was your experience if you attended. Also, if you will attend as well let me know!

I am going to be attending the ap/ ea program this summer.

Me too.

I don’t have experience with the summer program, but we lived in Pittsburgh–about 2 miles east of CMU in Squirrel Hill–for a number of years. We love the Burgh. Squirrel Hill and the area around CMU are great. Shadyside (northeast of campus) has lots of little shops and restaurants and a more upscale feel. Oakland is more urban–lots of traffic and buildings. The Carnegie museums are right next to CMU and the Phipps Conservatory (if you like plants and flowers) is very close. There are several parks near campus if you want some nature. I can’t imagine you’ll go too far off campus while at a summer program, but if you go south (other side of the Monongahela River) the Duquesne Incline is very cool, and there are some quirky, fun shops in Southside.

Hey, I also will be attended the NHSGA program too! I might see you there.
