Carnegie Mellon sciences

Does anyone know about CMU’s strength in the pure sciences, specifically the biological sciences? Right now, I’m deciding between CMU’s Mellon College of Science and the University of CT’s Honors Program. As far as atmosphere goes, I definitely prefer CMU. But UCONN would be a lot cheaper and has a good reputation for science/medicine. Any advice / info about either school??

my brother had a three way tie for UR CMU and NYU for a pre-med, biology and chemistry major and he ended up going to UR. NYU was what he was really hyped up on, but after taking a tour with a current student, he really saw the hype wasn't much to the proof. UR on the other hand thought was "a dumb school in the middle nowhere" turned out to be his choice "without a doubt" after he visited it for the first time. Furthermore they offered him much more financial aid than NYU"s horrible financial aid system...... Then came CMU he went there and again he hooked up with a current premed student, and the premed student told him it wasn't the school's strength, and as it turned out it wasn't, my brother said you should only go there if you are getting into engineering...... I would trust him.....he only got into Princeton >.< fool didn't go because he would have to take out loans
