Carnegie Mellon University Class of 2023 Regular Decision

Just wanted to start this thread. Carnegie Mellon has been on my radar a while now and I really want to go there. I’ve applied as a Math Major under MCS.

Does anyone have any clue when decisions are coming out? It’s usually towards the end of march

Last year it was on Saturday March 31 early morning.

So maybe March 30th?

Their admissions website says “no later than April 15” but that’s way too late to plan a visit during April break, which begins that day, so I really hope end of March (or very early April) will be the case again!

The admissions newsletter we got on 1/17 announced that there will be admitted students events 4/6-8 and that registration will be available for the events in late March. This implies that admissions notification will be in late March.

I feel that those events are for the ED admitted students but I really don’t know.

They were for the RD students back in 2017 when my DS was admitted. Unfortunately he couldn’t attend owing to such short notice.

I just wanna say that CMU releasing decisions at the very end of March last year is relatively uncommon, because admissions hadn’t been prepared for such a huge increase in apps - the initial emails had promised a mid-March release date. so this year the admissions release date will probably be slightly earlier.

Did anyone get Decision Notification Letter posted on 30 March under their Admission Documents sent?

@cmubound321421 Yes I saw that line as well and that’s why I decided to check this page lol.

I did not get that in my portal??

@arpirock try to contact admissions asap

What? Even I didn’t get that… International here BTW…

Does it have to do with when they receive mid year reports?? Mine were received on Feb. 9th so maybe they wait to post the Decision Notification Letter until that is processed?? Any help will be much appreciated.

@arpirock Not really. The AdCom updates all portals differently. So wait longer for the thing to show up. Even if it doesnt, it doesnt mean anything at all. Top Schools (at least) dont give any sort of hint (except a likely letter, that too for ~1% of apps) about the decision status of an app.

Its not like they wont release a decision fro you on 3/30. It doesnt mean anything either.

Asking the AdCom about this via email seems petty. So sit tight, relax, and wait till the RD dec. date.

Hope this helps.

@TheGuy1 Yes this helps a lot thank you!!

We are waiting too.

Anyone applying to the College of Fine Arts? My daughter applied for voice and was invited to audition Feb 15th. Wondering if the academic standards are different for CFA.

@singer2 Yes, grade matter but each school has its own standards. I auditioned 2/15 as well and was asked how my grades are. I had a great visit though and really see myself there. Crossing fingers.
