Carnegie Mellon Waitlist before RD decision date??

Im really confused about my application status to CMU right now. The admissions decision is supposed to come out this Saturday, but an applicant posted a cmu link onto the 2019 applicant group that apparently tells you if you’re on the waitlist or not. After logging in, some people got to a page asking for what kind of wait list they wanted to be placed on. After I chose the kind I wanted, CMU sent me this email. Can someone tell me if im on the waiting list or not?

Thank you for your reply regarding the Carnegie Mellon Waiting List.

You can change your Priority Waiting List status online at any time until April 10, or you can change your Waiting List status online until May 1.

If you chose to remain active on our Priority Waiting List, you’ll be notified of your admission decision on Where Am I in the Process on May 6 after 5:00 p.m. EST. If admitted from the Priority Waiting List on May 6, an $800 non-refundable enrollment deposit must be submitted online within 72 hours (further instruction will be given to you at this time).

We will also contact you again between now and May 6 to re-confirm your interest in remaining on the Priority Waiting List, so please watch for further email communication from us.

If you chose to remain active on our Regular Waiting List, we’ll determine if there are any additional openings in the freshman class between May 15 and June 1. If space is available, students on the Regular Waiting list may be admitted at this time. If there are no openings in the freshman class, you’ll be notified by mail by June 1.

At this time, there’s no need for you to request additional letters of recommendation - what we currently have on file is sufficient.

If you submitted the required financial aid documents by February 15 or soon after, you should receive a financial aid notification letter shortly if you haven’t already. If you haven’t applied for financial aid, please apply right away. We encourage students to remain active on the Waiting List only after having received and reviewed their financial aid notification. If you’re admitted from the Waiting List, your financial aid package will become effective upon enrollment. Because resources are limited, Waiting List decisions may not be need blind.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 412-268-2082 or undergraduate-admissions@andrew.cmu.edu.

Thanks,

Office of Admission

That is a general notice covering all wait list options. Based on the terminology it looks like they logged your name on one of them. But there is a phone number and E-Mail address for questions. Why don’t you try there?
