hey im living in hardin next year, and i was wondering if i should buy carpet for the floor. where should i buy it from? buy it from the school (i think they offered that) or by yourself? and also how bad would it be if i didnt have carpet at all?

The floor is linoleum in the new dorms on South campus, which is kinda yucky and cold without something to soften it up. You can buy rugs through a service sponsored by the school...they are cheap, custom cut and bound to fit the rooms in each dorm, but are not exactly plush and will probably only last a year.

My d bought a rug through the school last year and didn't like it. So this year, she and her roommate are each buying a rug for their room. She found an 8x10 shag for $199 at Home Depot. Kinda expensive compared to the previous rug, but it should last for the next three years.

If you decide to buy through the school you need to hurry...deadline is August 3.

FYI...the RHA website:

Btw, I got a great piece of 5 x 7 from Lowes for like $20. It's not gonna cover the whole room, but who needs the space under the bed carpeted?

GOB- lmao, thats true. wow $20? i'll have to check out lowe's then =]

Good point, Get...and in fact, if you opt to bring your own rolling task chair for the desk, it's good to leave little space of linoleum around the desk area, so the chair doesn't get hung up on carpet. Last year, my d's carpet was so big, it was under her desk and she had to buy a plastic floor mat to put on top of the carpet.

Tina, I KNOW!! I was shocked. But it's really good quality too! They had a whole bunch of different colors... I'd hurry though before they run out!

alright so the 5x7 is about the best size then if i were to buy it on my own?
