Carroll chances...and i also have a question

hi! i recently decided to apply to BC and havent had much time to research anything yet =[ and im having trouble picking a major. in my other schools, i am applying for either Business Administration (my 1st choice for those schols that offer it) or economics. i was wondering what major within the carroll school of management would be the equivalent of BA, or whether i should just apply for econ(also, what is the most competitive major in carroll? just wondering)

so if you could answer that and also chance me…thatd be awesome :)

i'd report the ACT score. I got in with a 31, so I imagine the 33 will help you out.

what i meant is that my SAT score is almost identical to the ACT score, so i dunno if i should send it (and spend 9 more bucks....im not exactly rich :))

bumping!

Your SAT scores are strong enough that reporting your ACT score is likely to provide only a small marginal benefit, since it just verifies the SAT scores. If you want to save the money, just self-report the ACT score on your Common App and don’t send the “official” report. You won’t be penalized, since sending your SAT scores already satisfies the testing requirement.

As for your other question, applying to BC’s Carroll School of Management is the equivalent of applying as a Business Administration major at other schools, since CSOM offers only a BS in Management degree for undergraduates. As to which concentration to pick within CSOM – or more accurately, concentrations (since you can choose more than one), it depends on what you are primarily interested in. Do you want the broadest possible background? Then choose General Management. You can also choose Economics (you had mentioned that area in your posting.) Or other more specific technical areas like accounting or computer science. It’s your choice. Concentrations aren’t important at the application stage.

Sigh. Another Asian applying to Carroll... with better test scores than me... ahhh, life.

Looks awesome to me, btw. National Merit Scholar helps, or I hear from my friends. (I missed it by 1 point! My friend got it with a 200 and I got a 199.) Asian... math team... who saw that one coming? It's also great that you have community service (of which I personally am lacking) and I'm going to stop ranting now.

Anyway, totally feeling this deal "Weaknesses: downward grade trend. asian"---did you take more and more hnrs/AP classes though as the years progressed?

worried_mom: thank you! perfect answer to my question :)
corretto: well, i took 1 honors in freshman year (big public; only offers 2), 1 AP and 4 honors sophomore year, and 4 APs in junior year. i guess i was a little overwhelmed by the work in junior year (then again, the counselor did warn me about this, so its all my fault x[)

Ahaha no worries, I did the same thing... although, the thing is---GPA suffered, but did well on my actual AP tests... so... I don't know---worth it?
