If anyone can give me a first -hand perspective I'd appreciate it!

bump bump bumpity bump

sorry...I'm just hoping to catch some solid info from someone who knows.

A girl one year ahead of me at my school started at Carroll last fall. I saw her briefly over the holiday break and she loves it. She and I are not close, rarely spoke at hs, but I know she was a B- to B student that had to work hard for those grades -but at a tough, I guess the term is "rigorous" high school. She seemed real comfortable and relaxed and said that there is plenty of support for her academically and lots of friendship there. I realize it's not much to go with but I can say that a real person goes there and loves it...

Thank you Sara! Are you from a warmer state? We are from No. California and it gets cold...but not 20 below Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

A good friend of mine from study abroad went there, she loved it. But honestly unless you get some merit aid I don't know if it's worth going to such a small private school with little to no name recognition.

I, and my ex-classmate, the one who is now at Carroll, are from sunny & warm southernCA. We did talk about the cold in MT and she said the kids and adults at Carroll kinda keep an eye on her when it gets real cold to prevent her from doing something dumb in extreme weather. She says she has learned how to deal with it really well, and has had no problem with it, yet admitted "real" winter hadn't arrived by the Christmas break...

About lillybbloom's thoughts, I know my classmate got enough merit aid to make it a better deal than the Cal State schools she was accepted to. I bet it can be hard for northern schools to recruit from accepted students in the middle of winter, so maybe they have to give good merit aid. As I said I don't know her real well and only had a short conversation with her, but I do know she's happier than she would be at a public CA school...

Hey Lilly thanks for the info from your study abroad friend. This is a financial and academic safety for my girls and they do offer wonderful merit aid. The thing about name recognition is that regionally Carroll does have a good reputation. For us fit and finances trump pretige though having all three would be nice too.

Sara we cross posted and I almost missed your reply. It's good to know that a So Cal girl can deal comfortably with the cold and that they watch out for her. I have been running the numbers and if my girls qualify for the presidential scholarship it will be cheaper...even with travel...than many public campuses. Thanks again for the information I appreciate it. If you see your friend during spring or summer break and she would be willing to connect w/ prospective students it would be great if she or you could PM me. Thanks again.

giving it one last try
