I am a high school senor applying to schools and Cal Poly is one of my top choices. I was wondering if anyone could give me information on parking at Cal Poly. I am a surfer, so I need a car during my time at college to get to surf spots. I don’t plan to drive to class or really anywhere, I will likely skateboard or bike, but I need a car to get to surf spots that are not within walking distance.

@surfysurfy I know parking is VERY limited, I’m not even sure if they allow it, so at best it’ll be expensive and tough to get, but I know for a fact that skateboards aren’t allowed. Bikes are okay though.

If you are going to live on campus, you will need to get a residential parking permit (currently cost $525 for an annual permit) . Parking is limited. Here is a map of the parking lots, residential lots are R1, R2, R3 and R4) Campus Maps - Cal Poly; . With a residential permit, you will be fined up to $355 for parking in the general lots.
