Anyone know what the policy is for having cars on campus?

Don't even try it!

if you volunteer or have a job off campus that requires a car, you can have one. Or if you have medical reasons. Otherwise, you have to park it off campus, which is essentially impossible.

Unless you have a job, you're not allowed to have one.

That being said, if you want to try to find a place to park all of the time, go for it. One of my friends has a car here, but he has to park it absurdly far away. It's not really worth it.

Absolutely agree with the responses: finding parking spots off-campus can be a frustrating experience. Williamsburg Police has an itchy trigger-finger with parking tickets.

Generally, the answer is no unless you have a "medical reason" or a job or volunteer work that is off the limits of the Williamsburg bus routes. I know they built the parking garage this year, but in my day, you couldn't bring a car until you were a junior, and only sophomores in Dillard were allowed to bring them because their dorm was 2 miles away. Today, Dillard isn't a dorm anymore.

The parking garage is replacing Common Glory (the lot on Jamestown past Morton) because Common Glory is going to be the new Business School.

Get a job off campus, then you can bring your car. You'll have to park it in the W&M Hall lot though, so if you get assigned to Hunt, Brown, Taliaferro, Monroe, or even Barrett it'll be a nice walk.
