Cars in College

Sup!
I'm thinking about importing my car from abroad, but what was wondering how high the insurance would be (2006 Bentley Arnage/2007 Mercedes Benz CL63 AMG). Also, how safe is it to keep a $100k+ car on campus parking? Not in terms of theft, but student vandals. No, Im not trolling.

Thanks!

Are you serious? I see your “not ■■■■■■■■ statement,” but why in the world would a college student have a $100k+ car?

I’m not bringing my $8500 Volkswagen to campus…freshman parking is pretty far away and still just as expensive as the nicer lots. I would think vandalism would depend on where you’re going to school.

Some people are privileged.

Some people are VERY privileged.

It depends on where you’re going to school. I wouldn’t bring a Bentley or high-end Benz to my school and keep it there, but if I was going to school at a closed campus in an affluent area I would.

The insurance would also be VERY high I’m guessing. Insurance is generally quite expensive in the US for anyone under 24. A buddy of mine at work with a clean driving record pays like $200 a month, and he sure isn’t driving anything nice. It’d be around $300 a month for me since I’ve got a car accident on my record. And that’s for the basic basic coverage.

I would say get an inexpensive but nice car to use for undergrad then get you your 100k+ car for after you graduate.

Honestly, I can picture some people vandalizing your car out of pure spite…

Your insurance rate will differ depending on what state you put as your residency. For states like NJ/NY, expect a very high insurance rate… My insurance for a 2008 Highlander costs $3000 and I have no tickets or at-fault accidents on my record. Also, the insurance provider can make your policy cost more or less. Pretty sure companies like Allstate and State Farm(my provider) cost more than Progressive or Geico.

I’d just get another cheaper car for temp use while your in the states then sell it when you graduate. Anything under $50k will be okay imo since I see BMW 5 Series, Audi A4/A6s at Purdue…

snap… I think its much better if I bring it with me instead of letting it stay at home here in the mideast and catch dust…and sand!! Eitherway, I am going to sell it when I graduate.

If your going to sell it anyway it isn’t worth the money to ship it abroad juss for school. Sell it now and pick up a car around where you go to school, if you think you need it.

Yeah I wasnt sure whether to bring my Bugatti or Lambo so I brought them both…

yeah I have a couple of Bugattis so i was able to bring one of mine to school with me. If it gets messed up then no big deal, I have a couple more.

yeah and I bet you (konig) have a konigsegg too…right?

If you bring a $100K car to college it will most likely leave a $100 car. So yes, definitely do it.

No, I would not bring an expensive 100k+ car to a college campus. You should look for a more inexpensive car to use as it is very unlikely for you to transfer the car abroad when going back home.

with cars like that, i’m surprised TC would care about insurance rates…

Sup!
Bring your car so you can brag and get your ass kicked. Oh yeah, your car will be trashed.

Thanks!

^ no hard feelings OP, but those are facts.

remember most college students are broke, so modesty would probably be a better approach from a social perspective

'tis true

even if you don’t act all arrogant and better-than-you, some ****** would probably end up keying your car out of spite.

You are going to get so much ass in that car its ridiculous.

On a college campus, a $10k car will be worth much more to you than a $100k car.

Much less hassle, less flak socially, more safety.

If people see you driving a $100k car and acting as rich as you are, you’re going to be a target.

For your own safety, sell the $100k car, keep the money somewhere safe, and get yourself something modest once you get here.

^selling a 100k car in a buyer’s market is stupid … depreciation alone will eat up alot of the money…unless he got the 100k car used then that would not be a problem.

My 10,000 dollar car costs 250 a month to insure, and I’m a girl. I’m just going to assume you’re a guy, so adjust price wise then double.

Also start a pool betting on how long it takes for someone to trash your car completely.
