Does anyone recommend bringing a car to college. The reason I ask is because my parents are willing to buy me an evo for my birth day but they think that I will not need it when I go away to college. I hope to go to USC or UCSD maybe even out of state like Boston or Northwestern.

Thanks for any feedback

I go to Simmons which is right in the center of Boston, and I would not recommend bringing a car to Boston. It's not only discouraged at most schools, but you'll spend a fortune on parking (it is very difficult to find parking on the street for a short period of time, much less on a regular basis for keeping a car), and the stress of driving in the city and the money you'll waste on gas isn't worth it. A car is definitely not needed. The T is quick, relatively inexpensive ($1.70 a ride), and covers the entire city (as well as some colleges not in Boston proper, but nearby, like Tufts).
