Cars?

I haven’t heard anything about having cars, not that I’m really expecting to be able to have one, nor do i need to have one. Just wondering if BC has a policy regarding student cars.

cohen139- on the website for frequently asked questions under residential life it says:

"May I have a car on campus?
No. There are a limited number of parking spaces (150) on campus for juniors and seniors only. These spaces are reserved for students who need an automobile for a pre-practicum or similar experience. Spaces are awarded through an application process. Most students will tell you, however, that the "T" is the only way to travel, and that if given the opportunity to have a car on campus, would not. "

Which, to my opinion indicates that a car is not really necessary if you attend BC.

thanks superwoman. hadn't seen anything

yep. no problem! : )

like that superwoman said, BC has very limited parking spaces on campus and a car really isnt needed unless you commute to school. the city is about 45 minutes away from campus using mass transit and i cant think of a reason why someone would need a car. if you really are insistent about getting car, you have to file a request (with a reason) to get a parking permit and pay for the permit as well.

i'm not saying i needed one. i guess all i thought was driving home for breaks. but i guess i'm going to have to fly home.

D is a senior and had a car last semester and this one. The parking permit is $475 per semester and she needed to submit a solid reason why she needed one. She is a student at Lynch and needed one for student teaching and had it last semester for her off campus practicum. I honestly don't think a car is needed except for those specific reasons. When there is a weather alert, you need to move your car (I think to a garage, to open up the lots for plowing) and during football weekends, you need to move your car to the Newton campus. Public transportation is so convenient and it is easy to get a cab anywhere, so a car is just a big hassle imo.

Unless you are willing to pay the money for a parking permit, you probably won't be able to have a car on campus. You also can not park your car on the street because you need a local permit for that. I mean, most students I know here just take a plane, bus, or train back home.
