I think I want to go into business, but I am not entirely sure. I might want to do something like journalism? Should I try to go to CAS rather than Wharton?
Considering CAS is easier to get into than Wharton, and I could always major in Economics at CAS?

if you want business, definitely wharton. if you get in, you are set for business, and if you change your mind on business it is easy to transfer to CAS, or you can dual major or have a minor— however, it is NOT easy to transfer into wharton. so better be at wharton from the start

But then I also run the risk of not being accepted to UPenn at all due to the very low acceptance rate to Wharton

I have the same question. You could consider ED… but from what I have seen it is difficult to determine the exact ED acceptance rate to Wharton. Any info/advice from current students or people who have applied would be excellent. Good luck to you.

Strategy is good but in some ways futile.

The acceptance rate is low overall. Are you in the zone for Wharton is the real question. Are you competitive in your academics, ECs and drive?

I had the same question at the beginning of this year except I knew I wanted to go into business. I decided that it wouldn’t be worth it to get into Penn and spend my 4 years at the CAS when I wanted to be in Wharton, even though Penn is my first choice and applying to Wharton gives me less of a chance at acceptance. Good luck!

Let’s put it this way:
If you like CAS to the point where you will be elated with your acceptance than apply CAS.
However, if you think that if you get accepted you’ll still be mad at yourself for not trying to apply to Wharton, then apply to Wharton even if it means you have a lesser chance.

I love Penn, and I got deferred from Wharton with a 4.0 GPA, 2110 SAT, very good ECs while some of my friends whose stats are lower got into CAS… your choice

I ended up not applying to Penn/Wharton because I have no ECs related to business. Not sure my family would like to pay full fare for Penn/CAS. Good luck with your decision.

Anyone know if you can do pre-med while being a business major? Or should you dual degree cas with business if you want to do both business and premed?
