CAS ORIENTATION??? Room mate questionaires n such?

I Kinda feel like NYU has left me out to dry. Granted I was accepted in early December which makes the drag feel longer, but I feel like if I weren't neurotic about chasing down information on housing/room mates/orientaion...I'd get screwed.

Nonetheless, I bet a lot of you are waiting for SOMETHING from NYU and in the same shoes so I'm passing what little information I have gathered on to my fellow CCers at least (rest of them be damned)

1) Housing questionnaire, found when logged onto NYU with ID under "NYU life" then under "housing forms" this is just to selsct a dorm. You must list all dorms in an order, hopefully all EDers have done this already as they have dibs.

2) Roomate matching questionaire, waited and waited for something in the mail (as per internet instructions) but received nothing. This also came up online this very recently (only 3 questions though...not impressive)

3) CAS orientation-they have 5 3-day orientations starting in like 3 weeks!!!! These are important to attend if possible cause you meet with your advisor, sign up for classes, check out Hayden Hall and hopefully meet some cool kids...again, the website said "information will be mailed in May for these orienations" but the month is almost over and they start in mid June, so my advice is get online and sign up. This is an additional $300. WARNING: this is no "roomate questionnaire" with 3 questions but rather a rehash of your common app. I guess they assume your advisor will read all 4 pages of very REDUNDANT questions...but I doubt it. Nonetheless it takes time and I lost my internet connection 2/3 of the way through first time (no way to save)

Hope this helps anyone who might not be as obsessive (although I bet most here are on top of it)

a word of advice for the orientation form that you fill out online..open up a microsoft word document or something, and save ur responses in the document as you go through the form online

I'm not considered international, but I will be staying in Taiwan all summer bceause of family reasons. Do you think it's possible that I just attend the one during Welcome Week?

There were people I knew who weren't international that attended the orientation during welcome week--I almost had to do it for financial reasons. So yeah it's fine to do it during welcome week, but just a warning: you'll only get to choose from whatever classes are left, which usually are not the best of the bunch.

Damn...is it really that bad?

just received package today (in NJ) the letter was marked May 8th...some how their bills find their way

What's the point of the questionnaire? Do we seriously need to put a lot of thought into it?

wait a sec. where do you sign up for the orientation in nyuhome? i can't find it anywhere.

thanks for the help.

here's a link to the orientation thing:
NYU College of Arts and Science Freshman Orientation Registration

Thanks a lot! Were going to send this in the mail, or perhaps email us?

Also, is it better to get the soonest orientation possible so we can sign up for classes?
