CAS Orientation

My daughter starts in CAS this fall. She has not received any info on the orientation. Does anyone have the info/link? Thanks.

she needs to sign up for one of the orientations in june in order to choose classes.

Don’t mean to hijack the thread, but are Stern kids supposed to attend a CAS orientation or just the Stern one? I plan on double-majoring in business at Stern and chemistry at CAS, so should I attend both orientations, or is one enough?

CAS Orientations are for CAS students only. I was informed each school has its own orientation. So, you should be prepared to attend the Stern orientation only. I am sure an advisor at the Stern Orientation can discuss the double major at CAS Chemistry dept. and/ or refer you to speak to a CAS Chem dept. personnel.

Unless you are looking to enroll into a smaller size Chem class for Fall 2011, then it might be a good idea to contact Stern earlier to see about getting registered for a CAS Chem class sooner rather than later (if you even have room in your first semester Stern schedule to do so). The reason for this is that a lot of the smaller CAS classes will be closed after the summer CAS orientation sessions and I believe Stern has a later orientation session in the summer (right before school starts or during the Welcome week?). I hope a Stern student can chime in about a more exact time period for Stern Freshmen class registration.

Quick question, I checked out the site and it saids the latest on is July 6th?
Is that right? It saids the CAS Summer Orientation Sessions…
I won’t be in NY until August! Does anyone know if there will be any more sessions?

Are you an international student starting in CAS? I think they have a later orientation session, as I recall from last year. I think the domestic students who were not able to make it to the earlier CAS summer orientations were able to register for the orientation session with international students (in August)?

No, I’m not an international student but I cannot go because I won’t be in the states. I’ll give the admission office a call then…I’m just afraid all the classes will be taken up, the good ones at least.

Call up CAS Advisement Office, not Admissions Office for info about class registration and the time frame involved, especially for students registering after the earlier summer sessions. Phone # for CAS Advisement: 212-998-8130.
