CAS transfer: Chances? Advice?

Hello. I'm currently a sophomore in college and was wondering if I have any chance whatsoever for transfer into NYU's College of Arts & Sciences. Thanks.

High school:
GPA: Hmm. It was 3.25 last year when I was applying to schools, but that didn't include senior grades. I'd better check it again - my grades went on an upward curve starting junior year, and in senior year I received a 95 or higher in all classes, so I bet it's higher now.
ACT: 28. Ugh.

SAT II's: Above 700 on U.S. History, World History, and Literature.

AP's: 4 or 5 on U.S. History, World History, European History, English Language, English Literature, U.S. Government & Politics, Comparative Government & Politics. I never actually took a course in AP World History, though, I taught myself; and I learned AP European via an independent study through my high school.

EC's: Quiz League, starter position all 4 years.
Tennis team, freshman year
Debate club, junior and senior year
Multimedia club, junior and senior year
Mock trial, senior year
Theater techie, senior year
Film club, senior year (founder)
Volunteer for congressional candidate, junior year.
Volunteer for mayoral and city council candidates, senior year.
Homeless outreach volunteer program, founder, senior year
Student newspaper, founder & editor, senior year

I know, I know, not the best record; I didn't really wake up until I was a junior. I was realistic enough to know I couldn't get into NYU. Anyway, here's my record so far college-wise:

GPA: 3.8
EC's:
Founder of homeless outreach volunteer program. Again. Definitely what I devote the most time to.
Film club
Theater techie
Student newspaper
Another student newspaper, this one founded by me
Debate club
Quiz Bowl
NYPIRG (political volunteer group)

My intended major in the CAS would be Creative Writing. I'm trying to decide whether to put in my application for the spring semester or not, and simply wait to apply as a junior. Or, maybe I'll become a temporary visiting student at NYU through their 1- or 2- semester visitation program and apply for transfer at the end of that.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I don't know about the visiting program. I do know that you have a great GPA to transfer in with, I would say wait until you have two full years, before you transfer, BUT go talk to your academic advisors, or your transfer advisors, if you have them at your school. Also try and speak to an admissions counselor at NYU, they will be MOST helpful in telling what types of transfer students they take, by what route, and why. I was recently talking to an admissions counselor at one of my state universities, and she was telling me how they had to turn away so many applicants, and how they should do two years at another school, and then reapply. So start asking questions!

They care much more about your college gpa than your high school gpa
I was accepted with a college gpa of 3.75 and a high school gpa of 3.2
SATs were 1320
I think the essay is extremely important for transfers.
good luck!

lizze - what college did you transfer to? Also, did you apply as a sophomore transfer or a junior?

I'm debating right now whether or not to apply for spring of this (my sophomore) year. Deadline's coming up, I know...

I currently attend a 4 year university. Here are my GPAs

Frosh Fall: 3.25
Frosh Spring: 3.68
Soph Fall: Most likely between 3.5 and 4.0 (So far, in every class I'm pulling an A.)

EC's aren't great, but I do alot of volunteer work. (And I know I can make the essays really good.)

What are my chances? (Honestly...)
