CAS: Undecided or ...?

I visited NYU today and was really excited to hear that it has one of the best mathematics departments in the country. I also found out that is part of the CAS school.

My question is...

Is it worth applying undecided and then choosing to major in mathematics or to choose mathematics right away, if that's even possible?

Considering the math at NYU is top-notch, is it a lot harder to get in if applying as a math major than say, undecided?

Also, how competitive is a 3.6 gpa, 2180 sat, 740 math sat ii and 5’s on two of my only ap’s (so far) for CAS mathematics?

NYU’s courant institute is the best at applied mathematics…but thats mainly targeted at graduate school iirc…not sure how undergrad ranks though. and i think getting in undecided vs picking a major is of the same difficulty.
