CAS vs CALS acceptance rate

Anyone know the acceptance rate for these two school for 2008 acceptance year?

Not exactly but I think CALS has a higher rate.
Try google.

Depends on what program in CALS - AEM is part of CALS and has a 10 or 11% admit rate.

CAS is about 18%, CALS is about 22%.

this is in reference to the biology major.

CALS is easier. 18% compared to ~23% + the SAT ranges for CALS are significantly lower.

do you mind posting the link to where you got those %'s?

and if you wouldn’t mind writing the ranges themselves, that would be great.

[Cornell Factbook - Undergraduate Admissions](http://dpb.cornell.edu/F_Undergraduate_Admissions.htm)

But, don’t forget that CALS tries to maintain it’s target % of New York residents. Thus, depending on the instate-OOS pool, your chances could be higher or lower.

those are the class of 2012 results. this year, CAS had a 16% admit rate i believe

^bluebayou…by target % of New York students, does that mean one is at an advantage if they are from NY or if they are out of state? I am from the midwest so would applying to CALS or ILR (both of which are affiliated with NY state) hurt my chances in anyway?

hw:

I have no idea on the % of apps who are instate vs. OOS. I was just raising the point that the numbers may not be what they seem, i.e., if CALS receives a lot more apps from OOS, and it wants to maintain ~50% residents, then the OOS acceptance rate would be lower than the average, while the instate would be higher. And, of course, vice versa.

where do they post the acceptance rates by major? i’ve heard AEM is really low even though CALS overall is high. How about PAM in HEc? Gov’t in CAS?

They announced today at convocation that the acceptance rate into CAS was 14.8% for this year.

oh, nice, i was there too, CornellDelight. What major are you in CAS? I’m a mathematics major.
Also, did you go to the other meeting in Bailley Hall? I was with my parents getting some last-minute stuff done, so i missed it.
