CAS vs STERN

My prospective major will probably be business in the form of econ or finance. Obviously Stern is better than CAS for both of these, but do I even have a chance of getting GSP'ed if I apply RD to Stern?

Stats
GPA: 3.64W (Top 20%, upward trend)
SAT: 2230 (800M, 730Cr, 700W)
SAT II: 730 (Chem), 700 (Bio), Math IC (projected 750+)
School: Pretty competitive, NJ public
Courseload: 8AP's, 17 Honors classes
ECs: Two big leadership roles in small club & at church, secretary/treasurer for computer cub, FBLA states winner, 300+hrs community service

Basically it comes down to, is it worth taking the risk to apply to Stern and potentially be rejected outright from NYU, or should I go the safer route and just apply to CAS. I didn't realize so many ED Stern students were GSP'ed, otherwise I would have thought more seriously about EDing NYU :o

You have a good shot at Stern. Are you using anecdotal information about Stern ED going to GSP?

anecdotal from this very board, yes

I'm a Stern freshman and I have no idea how many students were admitted to GSP by Stern. The current freshman class is around 520.

From NYU's fact book for 2006-2007:

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

baccalaureate, associate, certificate, and
diploma programs) First-time

hey hsseniorlooking:
do you know anything about the financial aid packages for stern ed'ers? is it true that nyu doesn't offer many ed'ers because they don't have to "attract" them like the other rd'ers?

Sorry,

I was an RD candidate. All I know is that NYU offered me alot less than Emory (Goizueta) and Carnegie-Mellon (Tepper). I appealed my aid package and got a small amount more.

But I'm here anyway and I love it. I couldn't be happier. I hope everyone gets what they want (and hopefully what they need) to attend NYU.

3.64 W is pretty low. I've heard of higher WGPAs who got GSPd. But your tests are great! Good luck!

yup turns out i got a 790 on mathic sat ii's ...
