Case Grading Scheme

I heard that a lot of students get A's and A-'s when compared to other schools.
Is this true?

Even for the freshman science classes with like 300 kids is the class average still around an A?

That’s quite funny.
From what I’ve heard you work your butt off and you have a shot at an A. The idea that any freshman science class would have an A average is hilarious. The idea that a thing like that could be kept quiet, even more so.
No, Case has a reputation for hard work, not easy A’s.

There are no pluses and minuses at Case. I’m not very good at telling what grades are like but I wouldn’t say a strong majority are necessarily getting A’s. I really hope you’re not counting on your hardest classes to be easy A’s.

I would consider the credibility of the above poster before relying on any information to be factual. Sometimes students get overly enthusiastic about their college and enhance the truth.

^^^Huh? Not really sure what my above post has anything to do with enhancing the truth.

I have a few friends that go to Case currently and they all say that what you put into the class is what you get.

The sages classes I’ve heard are relatively easy depending on the session/professor you get? Or so i’ve heard.

depends on your major. the average GPA for engineers is somewhere between a 2.5 and 2.75.also depends on the professor. some professor’s are much more difficult, a mean a HUGE difference. at least in my major. hard sciences are harder to do well than in social sciences. but i think that’s the case at most schools. case is known for a tough workload and a fair amount of stress. but it’s really as stressful as you allow it to be. you will, unlike hs, have to work at case. a lot of kids just aren’t used to studying or hard work because hs is a blowoff.

Ooh, my favorite tip on choosing SAGES classes (beside your 1st semester, in which case you don’t have much of a choice): sign up for two because they are so small, making it impossible to get into them more than a week after class registration begin, and then drop the one that is less interesting/more work/whatever other criteria you have. SAGES are kind of hit-or-miss and I figure if I signed up for two, it makes probability of getting a good one much higher. It made the first week of the semester annoying, having to attend an extra class and all, but I got fun and easy SAGE classes out of it.

The thing I’ve found about science/engineering classes here is that when I get a B, I usually deserve it. I can’t say I’ve ever had a class that I didn’t have the capacity to get an A, most B’s have been my fault, as in, I could have gotten an A if I studied harder or earlier or better. Some classes you have to decide whether or not it’s worth killing yourself over, but mostly it’s physically possible to get an A.
