Case Merit Scholarships

Does anyone know what the criteria (GPA, test scores, etc.) for the different levels of the case merit scholarships would be? Also, do you know how many of the Trustee"s and President's that they award?

Thanks!

From Case's Financial Aid web page:

President’s Scholarships of $21,800 are awarded to selected entering freshmen ('07-'08). Eligibility is based on academics, including high school performance (GPA, class rank) and strength of high school curriculum, involvement in school and community activities, evidence of leadership, and standardized test results.

The Trustee's scholarship of $26,000 has the same criteria. They seem to be based on many factors, not just GPA/test scores. And they say "a limited number" of scholarships so I have no idea how many.

The Provost's Scholarship is also offered - I think it's $19,600.

And I don't know if this helps any, but 45% of Case students are awarded "merit-based aid".

don't know if this will help, but i got a president scholarship for 22,500, and these are my stats:
SAT CR 700, M 760, W 760 essay 12
SAT II Chinese 800, Math II 780, bio-m 760, physics 750
class rank 6/365
GPA 4.0 uw
Editor-in-chief for three publications, captain of varsity track, math team, lead attorney for mock trial, internship with State Rep, tutor, had a job before
Great essay and recommendations

i got the trustee's (27,500) and had:
SAT CR 760, M 680, W 700
SAT II Math II 780, Chem 760
ACT Composite 35
Rank 3/36
GPA 4.0 uw

I got a Trustee's.
SAT: 1570/2290
SAT II: three 800s
GPA: 4.0 UW 4.3 W

I also got a Trustee's

ACT: 36
SAT II: 800 (Math II), 790 (Physics), 740 (U.S. Hist.)
GPA: 4.0 UW 4.3 W
Rank: T1/320 (Public)

I had the same question last year and called the admissions. I was told that the merit scholarships are not awarded solely based on GPA and test scores. There are many factors, including your financial status. My son got less money than his high school classmate - even though my son had higher GPA, class rank, test scores, as well as more AP classes. My guess is that there is a min. academic standards. They use other factors to pick the winners among those met the standards.

Has anyone received a full-tuition merit scholarship yet?

I was invited to apply (and did apply for) the Wolf Scholarship, which is full tuition, room, board, summer program stipend. It said people were invited to attend based on stats and leadership. You had to write 2 more essays.

does anyone know what the "cutoff" for SAT and GPA is around for president/trustee's? I'm appealing for more scholarship in the summer when my GPA will be boosted more

Is it to late to apply for any scholarships/do they only select certain people to apply? They offered me horrible aid, still have to pay $26,000. If I can not recieve additional aid/scholarship money, I can in no way afford to attend(household income fell $20,000 this year).
Thanks :)

You don't apply for the trustees, provosts, or presidential scholarships, they are just awarded when you get your admission letter.

I'm not sure if there are any full tuition scholarships offered from Case anymore. I haven't met anyone here who has one in two years. I suppose the fewer full tuition scholarships, means they can give more people the trustee/president's scholarships.

I actually got the Wolf scholarship that I mentioned above, so this upcoming fall I will attending Case completely free!

^ Congrats! =]

Great job! Since those scholarships are so rare, what do you think clinched it for you?
