Is anyone familiar with what Case has to offer for musical groups and/or lessons for non-music-majors who want to keep playing? Thanks!

My son auditioned on horn at Case in Feb, 2013. He is admitted to the class of 2017.
I had the chance to sit in on a meeting about music options at Case. Music lessons, ensembles and orchestra are available for credit or audit. There is also a joint CIM/Case woodwind ensemble group. For music minors, lessons cost extra however and are priced for one hour or half hour lessons. All of this info is on the Case website under Music Dept. The instrumental music teachers are both Case professors and CIM professors, depending on your ability and your instrument. You may know that CIM is located in a building on the Case campus and the conservatory students take all their non music classes at Case. They also live in Case dorms with Case students. Also, there is a new performing arts center that will open next year. Its a synagogue that was purchased by Case Western and the plans look fabulous!

Thanks for the info!

CIM is a great place for music students. Having the Symphony right there doesn’t hurt either!

D was interesting in continuing with her music at Case, but she hasn’t made much headway on it. She has been too busy, involved with several other volunteering opportunities. She had signed on to play the piano for an orchestra group in freshman year, but then found that the commitment was too much for her.
