Case vs. Rochester vs. Tulane...I'm lost

So...it's down to Case Western Reserve, URochester, and Tulane for me. Each school has its own intriguing aspects. Overall, I could really use some outside opinions on this one -- I'm lost.

For starters, I'm interested in majoring in Economics. I'm pretty sure Rochester is best in that field; however, I assume Case's Weatherhead School is not too far behind.

Financially, Tulane and Case Western have offered nearly the same amount, while Rochester has offered about 10k less.

Any advice/your rankings and outlooks on these schools, academically, would be much appreciated.

To be honest, if Tulane wasn't a beautiful campus located in New Orleans, I'd probably rule it out. However, again, I'm lost. I like all three. If it helps, I wish to continue at some elite postgrad business program after my four years.

Thanks so much for any help!

Have you visited the campuses yet? These are three very different schools. Although they all offer quality programs. I have never visited Tulane. However, I am very familiar with Cleveland and Rochester. I live in both cities. Personally, I like Cleveland more than Rochester. Rochester is a pretty depressing town right now. Upstate New York has not been doing very well economically for the last few years. Also, Rochester is near Buffalo. Although the winter is not as bad as Buffalo but it is still not very pleasant. Cleveland is more vibriant city than Rochester.

I suggest you visit both schools before making your decision.

I've seen the campuses. Case didn't impress me too much. Rochester was quite beautiful -- but it was in the summer. Overall though, I'm much more concerned with academics.

I graduated from to Tulane, although not to the Freeman Business School. Tulane is an amazing campus in an amazing city. Tulane draws students literally from all 50 states. Rochester is mostly New Yorkers and Case has a significant number of students from Ohio. So for the overall college experience I would vote for Tulane. As for Academics, I'd say it's what you make of it. They are all good schools. There are students who party too much but there is an equal amount of seriously focused students who are extremely hard working and ambitious.

GMEM...you really think Cleveland is a vibrant city? I guess it's about perspective. Case's Economics program is okay. I just don't like how it is bastardized by both WSOM and CAS. sigh.

Comparing to Rochester - Yes, I do believe Cleveland is a more vibrant city. Cleveland is also bigger and has more activities.

The University Circle area, Little Italy, and the Conventry area up the hill from Case are fun and vibrant - more so than U of R (although, heaven knows, not Tulane).

If the 10K difference between Case and U of R might make a difference as to your loan debt or ability to afford grad school, you should probably factor that into the equation.

Congrat's on your choices!
