I am in a bind trying to decide between Case Western with good scholarship and Vandy off waitlist with no scholarship/aid. Planning to do Pre-med with Neuroscience major (in CWRU Psychology). Visited both, love Vandy campus but am also worried about party life as distraction. On the other hand Neuroscience major at Vandy exists and looks very good, plus the prestige makes me consider Vandy over Case, but Money at Case is a big factor as well. So really in a tight spot trying to decide last minute ? Any thoughts as my goal is ultimately to become a doctor at a good med school ?

What is the difference in cost? Don’t you have to decide already or you just got extension?

Choose Case, hands down. They have an incredible Psych major (I am a triple major in Psych, Sociology, and Religious Studies) for a small department. Pre-med is also huge here, and professors do everything they can to help you prepare for the MCATs an medical school. You will probably be better suited for Case for the degrees and path you want. Vandy really isn’t more prestigious than Case-- they’re only ranked a few spots away from each other.

Not that I’m biased (as a member of the incoming class :P) but I think you should go with Case. The education is absolutely comparable to Vanderbilt, and the prestige in Psych is not a big deal (especially not pre-med, since Case is a very well known medical school).

I was in your situation last week.
I just emailed my regional counselor telling him i’m accepting Vanderbilt’s offer.
Ultimately for me the money wasn’t an issue/factor so I chose Vanderbilt because of the Neuroscience major and prestige. I feel like if the social scene becomes too much or if i’m unhappy at Vandy I can always transfer to Case…

Good luck with your decision!
