Case Wait List

I am a wait listed student for the incoming freshman class. I was wondering if anyone knows what my chances are for getting accepted. I know its a numbers game but what would be your best guess?

Any guess is just that, a guess.

Assume you will not get in and plan to go elsewhere. If you are accepted, great.
But don’t count on it, and end up with a gap year if you are not.

My guess is that you won’t.
That’s based on no info on your stats and my bad experiences with waitlists at other schools last year.

Good luck!

We got a call on Friday from Admissions after being on the wait list saying that they were opening up some spots. Have not spoken to them yet but it looks like a few are coming off of the list. I have found Case to be very proactive in managing their wait list. It will depend upon the cost to see where we go from here.

Are you sure?! I have been in contact with my admission counselor and I have gone on a visit to meet her; she says she couldnt give me that info because it changes year to year. Who did you hear this from?

Spoke to admissions yesterday and they confirmed they were taking some off of the wait list. We received an email acceptance from Case Western today after being on the wait list for a few weeks. Waiting to see what if any financial assistance is offered.

Thats good to hear. Hopefully i get the same news within the next couple days

I am sure there will be lots of waitlist movement in the next 48 hours as everyone scrambles to do their SIR’s. I know in my son’s case he did his SIR last night and started working on the no-go’s but with the lengthy questions some of the schools ask about why you are declining he did not get to them all (Case being one of them). He will be declining Case tonight which disappoints me greatly because he received an incredible merit award. It’s a wonderful school and I hope you get in. Make sure however you commit somewhere-treat the waitlist as a rejection but be proactive with your contact with them. My son was waitlisted at four schools and chose to remain on two of them, either of which he will attend in a heartbeat. Unfortunately neither of those two schools accepted anyone off their waitlist last year. College admissions this year was the worst ever!

Accepted off the Case Western waitlist today!
Here’s what the e-mail said:

Dear **********,

I’m writing with great news. Case Western Reserve Univesrity is extending you an offer to join the class of 2015. Congratulations! Your official offer of admission is being sent today via overnight mail.

We’ll also be sending you a follow-up e-mail which will contain instructions on activating your CWRU network ID and submitting an enrollment deposit. We are extending your deadline to deposit until May 5, 2011.

Based on the credentials you presented in your application for admission, you will qualify for a minimum of $24000 per year in university gift assistance. If you are a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and submitted a FAFSA, you will receive a complete financial aid package with your offer of admission.

If you have any questions about financial aid or making an enrollment commitment, please contact us at admission@case.edu or 216.368.4450.

Best Wishes,

I am blown away by $24000 minimum in aid! Much more than I was excepting.
I already accepted my spot at Carleton College though. No regrets. Good luck to you all!

yeaaahhh i got accepted off the waitlist too! got a call today - $26,400 in fin. aid!
Idk if I’m going there or UC Davis, though, I really need to think this over.

Got the acceptance package overnighted today, not enough financial aid to make it attractive, I think $16k per year. Leaning elsewhere at this point.

I got the acceptance package as well. I am considering attending next year because it has a strong bio program, but I have yet to finalize any decision yet.

I feel like many students at Case aren’t extremely satisfied because of the frigid weather and the fact that there isn’t much to do in Cleveland, Ohio…

Hey I got accepted from the wait list. I still haven’t received my official offer letter (international student). I know that I probably haven’t received much scholarships (nothing was written in my offer email like zander12321); so I was wondering if it is possible to request for more scholarships because $50k per year is unbelievable!

Any responses will be highly appreciated. They extended my deadline to the 5th of May.

I’m sure you can appeal for financial aid; as of right now, since you don’t have much time, you might want to call the Admissions Office

one of my friends said they got off the wait list with a 15 grand scholarship. It’s not impossible…

I saw today that there are 850 registered students for the freshman class… if Case wants to keep overall enrollment at approx. 4,200 students, then they need approx. 1,000 in the freshman class. I’m sure a lot of people will soon be getting off the waitlist!

where did you find these stats?

I pulled myself out of Case making room for the waitlisted. Good luck to you all!

waitlist is moving. my daughter just got a call, but declined. good luck!

just got taken off the waitlist! Cant wait
