DS accepted with University Scholarship.

His school doesn’t rank or provide an unweighted GPA, but his weighted GPA is 95.3. I don’t know what that translates to on the 1-4 scale. SATs: 800r, 780m, 680w; SAT 2: Physics 800, Math 2 790. ECs primarily related to science/engineering interest, but also a couple of seasons of team sports (that didn’t really take off), plus volunteer work in local park. He has no real amazing “leadership” in his ECs, so for all you non leaders out there, don’t despair.

He took twp APs junior year (USH and Physics B), got 5 on both. This year APs are Physics C, Calculus BC, US Govt/Econ; other classes are Sci Fi/Fantasy and two engineering classes (his high school has lots of these).

Why he was accepted? Who knows! He’s a solid student, does well on tests, and is serious about engineering and Case: we live in NY and did visit, and he emailed with a few legit questions about some of the electronics classes he’s taken. Also did alum interview (just last weekend!).

Overall it seems like Case is a good fit though let’s face it, there is an element of chance. He will wait to hear from CMU and RPI, But the scholarship money does catch my eye.

Congrats to all with good news, and good wishes to those who have yet to get the hoped for results.

@sdgal2 - I asked the admissions officer about the single door policy and according to him, while there is nothing to stop you from switching to a different major than what you intended, they do take your intended major into account. That is, they want a diverse freshman class with interests across several study areas.

Is there anyone accepted to Case and waiting for NU ED???

accepted with 30k per year (:

I was accepted with 30K scholarship.

I did the alumni interview, but hadn’t demonstrated any other interest.
I’ve also been accepted to Arizona State and its Honors College, and Auburn.

Congrats to everyone else!

My daughter was accepted but we can’t tell if there is an award? Where on earth is this listed? I see a budget report but nothing beyond that. I’m thinking no award. That is ok though. She was accepted to Purdue yesterday and Ohio State before Thanksgiving. Purdue is top choice, so unless Case offers her some money, somebody in deferred status will be getting her spot. :)

If I remember right, the amount of my merit scholarship was listed in my online acceptance letter.

If that is where it is located then she received no award, which means someone is getting her spot. Congrats to everyone accepted to Case Western!

Teacher Rec #1: Junior year AP/IB Econ teacher - he and I get along really well and he’s my mentor for a research paper I have to write for my graduation requirement so it should be really good. I just don’t know how original
Teacher Rec #2: Senior/Junior year IB bio teacher - she and I don’t actually know each other that well but she really seems to like me. I think her recc would have been nice if not exactly in-depth
Counselor Rec: I’m actually really close with my counselor so I think she would have written me an awesome recc

(3.9 gpa & 36 on ACT- 10AP’s, resume filled with EC’s, and volunteer work) We are out of state and he was unable to do an interview by the date they wanted it. Ironically, because he was in too many things

@lisn123 they deferred you because they know you can do so much better so they don’t want you taking up a spot that can go to someone else. they know that in the end, you’re probably not gonna go to case but go somewhere greater, so they don’t want to give you a spot now that will be wasted in the end
